Children’s book illustrator John Burningham has been selected as the UK Author Nomination for the Hans Christian Andersen Awards 2012 as part of the ICBD celebrations. John Burningham is well-known for such children’s classics as the highly popular book “Oi! Get Off Our Train”, which deals with the issue of endangered animals as they try to board a train in order to escape extinction.

A copy of “Oi! Get of our train” is available to view in the National STEM Centre’s physical library collection, amongst the many other curriculum-themed story books. Visitors are also very welcome to browse the “environmental issues” sections of the library which showcases all the latest publications for schools.

Since 1967, on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April, International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to call attention to children's books.
