Space resources: classroom ready(2 replies)
Created on 23rd March 2012 15:15 by Tom Lyons - ESERO Teacher Fellow
I’ve put together a list of what I think are some of the best space resources that are ready to use in the classroom. All the resources are from the ESERO collection on the eLibrary, and all contain activities for students. A primary resource, Is There Anyone Out There?, has just been published and focuses on a Mars landing – the landing sites are based on real choices from the recent NASA mission, Mars Science Laboratory.

Hi
Some SMILE resources refer to files that have not been made available - does anyone know where they might be available as the resource is not much use without them.

Calling all science teachers,
have you seen the information about Google Science Fair 2012?
The Google Science Fair challenges students aged 13-18 to carry out a scientific investigation into a real-world problem or issue that interests them. The competition asks them to carry the investigation forward through rigorous experimentation, recording and conclusions.

Archeology in Baldock(1 reply)
Created on 01st August 2011 14:14 by annecarlill
Recently I watched a BBC2 programme 'History Cold Case'. They went to Baldock, Herts and it reminded me of a chapter in a Nuffield Advanced Mathematics text about using regression analysis (I think) on some statistics from Roman remains found in Baldock. I think it was in book 3 but I seem to have all the others except this one. Can anyone pin it down to that book? I believe the NAM texts are available to download from the e-library. I'm away for 2 weeks but when I return I'd like to find this

Measuring the speed of sound to A'Level standard(0 replies)
Created on 19th May 2011 22:10 by Jeff McQuone
Just figured out how to do this in a noisy lab over a distance of at least 60cm. Precision was calculated at 97% (after taking the temp of the air in the room into account). Equipment was a computer running Audacity, a £5 microphone, a noise maker and a tube of at least 5cm diameter.
