The Science in Society course was designed to be flexible. The Teacher's Guide was designed to help teachers make use of the bank of readers and projects by dipping into them and using them in their teaching.

The Teacher's Guide provided a structure that could be used as the basis of a post-16, general studies course. An AO (alternative O-level) syllabus was developed by the Oxford and Cambridge Board to provide certification at the end of a one-year general studies programme. This course was intended to be equally suitable for both science and non-science student.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
