Institute of Physics: Teaching Advanced Physics
These resources are from the Institute of Physics and sponsored by Gatsby Technical Education Projects. They contain detailed ideas and resources for teaching physics to students aged 16-19.
The resources aim to help those new to teaching this age group. They assume only limited access to equipment, resources, and advice from experienced colleagues. They are not intended to constrain the development of other equally valid approaches. Topics covered include:
• Electricity
• Mechanics
• Vibrations and Waves
• Fields
• Atoms and Nuclei
• Energy
• Astronomy
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
Teaching Advanced Physics: Electricity
From the Institute of Physics, these resources are split into topics and each topic is subdivided into a number of learning episodes. Each episode represents a coherent section of teaching which is typically one or two lessons. The topics covered include: • Electric current and charge carriers • Electrical resistance,…
