The framework units were three short readers with these titles:
• What is Science?
• What is Technology?
• How does Society decide?

Aims
They were written with three main purposes in mind:
• As background reading for teachers uncertain about the whole Science and Technology in Society (STS) area - thus serving as a general teachers' guide to the project.
• As a skeleton for constructing a course to be based on a selection of the shorter units in the four files.
• As a source of reading passages for students who want a broader view of some parts of the subject.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
