HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.

Commentary:
These STEM careers videos are produced to a high standard and with up-to-date content. They show that there are choices of careers for young people whether qualified to GCSE level or a university graduate. The content presented in the first three resources made available is strongly focussed on the more practical subjects of technology and engineering with little emphasis on science or maths. It would be good to see some of the options available for these subjects which are not all laboratory or desk bound jobs. The video covering the young engineering apprentice is the most useful of the resources for secondary school teachers since it features a 17 year old and will be identified with by key stage 4 students. The resource also includes teachers guidance which are useful in summarising the strengths needed for each of the careers.
