Innovation Consultant
Alan Cucknell's job consists of finding new and innovative ways to make their clients' products stand out from the crowd. This Department for Education clip exemplifies for students a less familiar STEM career route.
Alan's company works with clients on their business and technical challenges. Using science and mathematics creatively allows him to develop new ideas and new solutions. He has worked on a wide range of products including designing lingerie, cars, swimsuits and even nappies. In one project, his team designed a swimsuit worn by world record-breaking swimmers.
Alan says, "Maths and science A-levels were great preparation for my engineering degree. Design technology allowed me to creatively apply much of what I learnt in maths and physics. It kind of linked it all together. I think science and maths are a great starting point for a career in innovation.''
