Science at Work: Case Study
This resource from BP Educational Service for students aged 14-16 explores science concepts through the real world science context of oil and gas extraction. The materials include a practical challenge and activities.
This resource is presented in three parts:
• A six-page information booklet about oil and gas extraction, which includes questions to explore students' knowledge and understanding
• Teachers' notes including answers to the booklet questions
• A series of PowerPoint slides that describe practical activities to help students understand some of the science behind extraction of oil and gas (the PowerPoint includes teachers' notes)

Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
