Uncertainty and Inequalities
This RISP, Almost Identical, is an activity designed to consolidate work on hyperbolics, exponentials, percentage error and curve sketching. Students are told that the shape of the curve formed by a chain suspended from two points is called a catenary and are asked to attempt to fit a parabola to the curve as best they can, then find the percentage error between their curve and the actual curve.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
