Investigating the Hardness of Materials
This activity, from BLOODHOUND SCC, allows students to explore ways to measure the hardness of surfaces. It can lead on to further discussion such as considering the influence of surfaces in sports like tennis, rugby and netball.
The activity is useful for developing investigative and measurement skills and representing data graphically helps to show the connection between mathematics and science.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
