Golden Mazes
In this Nuffield resource rooms in a rectangular maze of rooms have bags with a varying number of gold coins. Students explore the effect of the route on the number of gold coins that can be collected.
The key processes involved in the activities are:
• Representing - identifying the mathematics involved in the task and deciding on an appropriate form of representation.
• Analysing - working systematically, identifying patterns and relationships – leading to the making of conjectures which can be tested.
• Interpreting and evaluating - considering their observations, forming, testing and justifying generalisations.
• Communicating and reflecting - explaining their methodology and effectively communicating their findings.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
