CO2 Solutions: Carbon Capture Storage
Carbon dioxide is the major greenhouse gas contributing to global warming. Carbon Capture Storage uses cutting edge science and technology to reduce pollution from fossil fuel power stations.
Carbon Capture Storage (CSS) describes industrial processes that separate and recover carbon dioxide from flue gases. The carbon dioxide is then transported and injected into a deep underground geological formation for storage. CSS is being developed for use at large power stations and industrial plants that carry out carbon-emitting processes.
Alstom is a world leading business in transport and energy infrastructure. This brochure explains the processes of CSS, and describes examples of Alstom's work in this field around the world. It provides very useful background information to refer to when working with students on issues of pollution, global warming, and sustainable energy.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
