Changing Materials
Produced by the Hamilton Trust, these resources give details of six lessons on materials. This includes lesson plans, practical activities and all student materials. Students develop an understanding that materials have different properties and therefore different uses. They discuss natural/man-made materials. Students find that materials often change when heated or cooled and that forces can change the shape of materials.
The lessons are:
• Group and sort materials
• Changing shape
• Manufactured or natural?
• Effects of heat
• Melting
• Water and ice
HEALTH and SAFETY

Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
