Separating Solids and Liquids
Produced by the Hamilton Trust, these resources give details of six lessons on separating materials. This includes lesson plans, practical activities and all student materials. The lessons reinforce students' understanding of solids, liquids and states of matter. They
find out how solids and liquids can be separated when they become mixed. Students create their own sorting machines and learn how to filter a solution. They explore reversible changes.
The lessons are:
• Sorting material
• Properties of solids and liquids
• Solid or liquid?
• Mixtures of solids
• Adding solids to liquids
• Filtering
