This Nuffield Working with Science unit aimed to help students to recognise examples of pollution in their own neighbourhood and find out its origins. Students learn to appreciate that the problems of preventing pollution are very complex and that important conflicting interests may be involved. Students also find out about the ways in which individual citizens can play a part in reducing pollution.

Guidance for this topic appears in the Tutors’ Handbook.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
