Guide to the Guides
The Guide to the guides provided an opportunity to take a brief look backward at the work of the writing team and the trial areas of the Nuffield Mathematics Project (age range 5 to 13), and also forward to possibilities for the future. This guide is in two sections, each with its own introduction.
Section 1 is an attempt to summarise all the Teachers' guides and so is an extended and amended version of an earlier publication, The story so far.
Section 2 gives a selection of extracts and ideas from schemes of work, outlines or frameworks which have been produced by teachers in various parts of Great Britain who, after some experience of using the guides, met in groups to collect their thoughts and 'to make their own progression through the maze of concepts and topics'.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
