What Do Social Scientists Do? Economics
This Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) resource gives information about economics as a career. It gives a definition of economics as a quantitative approach to the study of society which looks at how decisions about supply and demand are made at individual, organisational and governmental levels. Economics makes considerable use of a wide range of data.
The resource then lists career possibilities and jobs where an economist's skills are welcomed. It also gives information about societies and ESRC-funded research centres (note that links within individual pdf files may no longer work but the organisations listed may be found using an external search).
ESRC is a part of Research Councils UK (RCUK).
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
