Challenges
These resources have been provided by Mathematical Education on Merseyside who have been running Challenge and Senior Challenge, take-home competitions for February half term, since the late 1970s.
The Challenge is aimed at students in Years Seven and Eight. Each challenge consists of about eight questions, with illustrations provided by Peter H Ackerley and is accompanied by the solutions.
The wide range of mathematics in each challenge is often placed in the context of a theme such as Magic, Space or Cluedo characters and rooms.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
