Royal Armouries Maths Trail
The Royal Armouries Maths Trail is designed to help students get around the entire museum, looking for the maths! The trail will take at least an hour to complete and the teacher version includes activities where there are suggestions for post-visit work.
Calculating with bullets
This resource includes teacher notes, a student worksheet and a PowerPoint presentation. The activities explain, in a simple way, how a bullet works and then develop into an exercise in algebraic substitution and re-arranging formulae for the calculation of kinetic energy.
The post-visit notes suggests some possible follow-up lessons on impact, tessellations and bullet spin.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
