Setting the Scene
The introduction to this resource from the Royal Statistical Society Centre for Statistical Education (RSSCSE) discusses the place of statistics in the National Curriculum and how each of the four areas:
• The handling data cycle
• Presentation and analysis of data
• Measures of central tendency and spread
• Probability
cannot exist without the others and that the overriding concern of teachers should be to allow students to understand this and also how to connect and interlink the areas. The introduction looks at some of the issues that arise if the understanding of this is not addressed.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
