Chapter 4 Using Autograph with CensusAtSchool Data
This chapter in the booklet Relevant and Engaging Statistics and Data Handling from the Royal Statistical Society Centre for Statistical Education (RSSCSE) presents personal experiences from Alan Catley, a teacher and ICT expert. Teaching and learning data handling and statistics makes for a far more meaningful experience if students are involved in working with real data.
Incorporating resources such as CensusAtSchool into the teaching and learning of statistical topics at Key Stages Two, Three and Four and also in S1 at A-level can motivate learning and enhance success whilst having fun.
This chapter shows how Autograph can easily transform the data into graphs and statistics to analyse easily. It includes histograms, stem and leaf diagrams, lines of best fit and residuals.
