100 Small Things to Make a Difference
This brightly illustrated poster, from Practical Action, encourages students to think carefully about the effects of waste on the environment. It gives lots of ideas for ways to reduce the harmful effects of waste, showing that everyone can make a difference, and includes links to useful websites. It separates the issue into the '6Rs'. These are:
Rethink... the way things you do
Reuse... a product or material to make something else
Reduce... the amount of materials and energy you use
Repair... try to fix things, rather than throw them away
Refuse... to buy a product or use a material that is harmful to people or the environment
Recycle... reprocess your product or material to make somthing else
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
