In-house Training for Maths Staff
Produced by the Learning Skills Improvement Service, these materials help to demonstrate effective practice. By New College Nottingham, this case study looks at the themes of progression through STEM and professional development.
The project was set up to provide opportunities for in-house professional development in specific maths and further maths units within the existing college timetable. Five maths teaching staff were invited to join level three students in at least five key classes in an appropriate advanced maths unit. The staff then reflected on their learning and worked through the set student exercises for their chosen unit, as preparation for their own teaching of these units in the future.
