Financial Awareness
Produced by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), this case study looks at the themes of embedding functional skills, numeracy and financial capability. It describes a project that is being piloted at Hull College.
The project aims to improve the financial awareness of its entry and level one learners, as well as members of staff. This is through the development of a dedicated, short timescale programme that includes newly developed resources and a professional development unit.
It also allows the engagement of key agencies that deal with financial inclusion in the North of England. These include the Department for Work and Pensions, Financial Inclusion Champions, banks, Citizens Advice Bureau, The Credit Union and Trading Standards.
