This resource, provided by CIEC Promoting Science, is intended for students studying A level chemistry. It gives an up-to-date description of the industry; all units include information provided by industry experts and are presented so that the material is relevant to the curriculum. In this sample, six units have been selected from the book which contains 76 in total.

The units included here are:

Chemical Industry
This gives an overview of the industry and includes information on:
• The different product sectors,
• The economic importance of the industry worldwide
• Financial information
• Research and development
• Safety, Health and the Environment

The other five units cover the production and uses of:
• Catalysts
• Surfactants
• Ammonia
• Polyesters
• Titanium

A copy of the book can be purchased from CIEC.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
