2008 Key Stage Three Statutory Assessment Tests
This resource from Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) contains the Statutory Assessment Tests for the year 2008, and their associated mark schemes, which are taken during May in the final year of Key Stage Three. The papers are tiered to facilitate an optimum match of test to student, the tiers cover Levels 3-5, 4-6, 5-7 and 6-8.
In each tier there are three papers: the Mental Test which is given orally via a tape recording, Paper 1 which has to be done without the aid of a calculator and Paper 2 where a calculator is allowed. Each written test lasts 60 minutes and together the tests cover the breadth of the National Curriculum Attainment Targets.
There are two mental mathematics tests, A and B, for the higher tiers and test C for the lower tier, to be taken in conjunction with the written tests.
These tests were administered with the aid of a recording which ensured consistent timings across schools. As with the written tests they were marked externally in accordance with the guidance given in the markscheme which was provided for teachers’ reference.
