Ginn Science Assessment Booklet: Written Questions Level (Year) Five
The Ginn Science Assessment Booklet of written questions for level five (students aged 9 to 10 years) was published in 1989. This was before the term ‘level’ acquired special meaning in the National Curriculum Assessment. Here 'level’ can be equated with ‘Year’. The questions are grouped in 10 sets, each set being related to a module in the resources file for Year Five. Some questions are illustrated with line drawings which help to reduce the reading load. Most require short written responses, often as a statement with a reason or explanation. The sets of questions are organised so that they can be separated and no two sets are on the same piece of paper. The Year Five resource file contains responses obtained during the piloting of the written questions, and makes suggestions as to how to evaluate and record the students’ responses.
