Magnetism
This book was one in the Longman Physics Topics series. It was written to provide background material for the work on magnetism in the third year of the Nuffield Physics course. This book presupposed little previous knowledge and thus could be useful for any student as an introduction to the subject. The inclusion of some more advanced topics (in small print) was designed to make this a helpful revision book for later years.
The book was published in 1974 and so it is inevitable that some of the illustrations and applications seem dated. There are some very clear line diagrams and images of magnetic fields revealed by iron filings. The book also includes suggested activities and questions.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
