Energy
This book was one in the Longman Physics Topics series. It was written to provide background material for the work on energy throughout the Nuffield Physics course. The book begins with a simple introduction based on 'doing jobs' but goes on to emphasise the concepts of energy conservation and transformation, first through laboratory experiments and then through examples of practical applications in daily life. At the end the book takes a look at the future (looking forward from 1974), its problems, dangers and possibilities. The approach based on energy transformation contrasts with the energy transfer approach that is generally adopted in schools today.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
