Studies in Awareness of Science: Option Book 1
This was the first of two option books, published by John Murray, in the resources developed for the Studies in Awareness of Science programme. The course centred around the options, each of which featured controversial, contemporary scientific topics. The scientific background to each topic was explained in some depth, providing a basis for discussion about the social, moral or economic problems raised. There was also the opportunity for detailed individual study of parts of the topic which could be used to practise written or verbal skills.
The treatment of each of the five options covered in this book starts with notes for teachers followed by the text, with data, for students.
