The Science 5/13 unit Time, stages one and two suggests classroom activities concerned with the scientific aspects of time. It was also hoped that the study of time would lead into other subjects and to creative writing. Through these activities children gather an increasing awareness of the duration of events through enquiry into different kinds of timing devices, day and night, changes in the Moon and the seasons. Half of the book is background information about these phenomena and about the people who pioneered ideas and instruments relating to time and its measurement.
