Taste (Key Stage Four)
From the Chilled Food Association, this resource helps students to think about how they taste food and find out about the work of a taste scientist. The materials are aimed at STEM ambassadors or company personnel running a session in a secondary school. However, they can be adapted for use by teachers in the classroom.
The materials consist of a lesson plan, stimulus materials and suggested activities. They will help students to:
• name the senses used to taste food
• use a range of vocabulary to describe a food product
• understand the basic concept of food production
• have an overview of the different job roles in the food industry
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
