The Teaching Primary Science book Fibres and fabrics contains many suggestions for classroom work about fabrics and paper, both of which are made from fibres. It begins with a discussion of some of the problems of teaching and organising this topic and considers how they might be overcome. There are then several chapters focusing on different aspects of scientific investigation that can be carried out using fabrics. The final two chapters broaden the scope of the book, discussing activities with fibres and fabrics that are not generally thought of as scientific. Activities are described in detail and illustrated by examples of children’s work.
