Investigate Chemistry
In 2009 the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Royal Society of Chemistry recognised a need for exemplification of the Chemistry ‘experiences and outcomes’ in a Curriculum for Excellence. Through this project three resource packs were created. The resources have been designed in line with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence but could be easily adapted for teaching elsewhere.
The Handwarmers resource, one of the three created by the project, is an investigation of reusable handwarmers involving fair testing. It consists of two short booklets, a teachers’ guide and pupil sheets, which suggest ideas for activities and investigations. The information provided is designed to be used only as a guide. The material was expected to be adapted, changed or expanded as required.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
