Ginn Science: INSET Guide
The Ginn Science INSET (IN-SErvice Training for teachers) Guide, published in 1990, consists of three self-contained INSET sessions. The first, 'Introducing Ginn Science', aims to familiarise teachers with the various components of the programme. The second, ‘Using Ginn Science', concerns the organisation of science in the classroom and the use of the various resources. The third, 'Introducing assessment', explores the assessment materials that Ginn Science provides for the assessment of both scientific skills and content. Each session contains a mixture of practical activities for colleagues and some input from the session leader, who is supported by provision of comprehensive notes and a series of blackline masters which can either be made into overhead transparencies or photocopied to make handouts.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
