Primary: Antibiotics and Medicine
Produced by the Health Protection Agency, this e-Bug resource explores the use of antibiotics and medicine in treating various illnesses and disease.
Through a cartoon, students consider a range of scenarios in which the two characters, Amy and Harry, are exposed to germs during their school day. Students discuss the various comments made throughout the cartoon and decide whether or not they agree.
Following the activity, students should understand that most common infections get better on their own through time, bed rest, liquid intake and healthy living. Also, that if antibiotics are taken, it is important to finish the full course of treatment.
