Produced by the Health Protection Agency, this e-Bug resource contains teacher guidance, stimulus materials and student activity suggestions.

These materials help students become familiar with the various types and shapes of microbes through an interactive learning card game.

An accompanying extension activity reinforces student knowledge of microbial structure through the preparation of research posters. Alternatively, students may prefer to research the history of microbiology by developing a poster on the timeline of microbiology.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
