Pressures
This book was one in the Longman Physics Topics series. It was written to provide background material for the work on forces and pressures in the first two years of the Nuffield Physics course.
The aim was to help students to appreciate the importance of pressure in everyday life. Emphasis was placed on the practical applications of pressure and pressure differences. This was essentially a book for students to browse in, to take up points which might capture their interest and then possibly pursue further.
The book was published in 1969 and so it is inevitable that some of the illustrations and applications seem dated. The book also includes suggested activities and questions.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
