Produced by CIEC Promoting Science, these resources help to put curriculum science in a real life context. The activities in this resource provide opportunities for children to revise their work on forces and to extend their understanding to the application of forces used in sorting and recycling materials.

The key curriculum focus of these materials is on the forces involved in the recycling process. Children investigate processes such as separating by magnetism, floating and sinking, friction and crushing forces. An optional activity see children making recycled paper from newspaper.

The activities are supported by extensive teacher guidance and children's activity sheets.

HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment. Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date. Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work. Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
