Maintenance Engineer: Tim Moss
This STEMNET resource describes the background and career of STEM Ambassador Tim Moss, a maintenance engineer working for Nottingham Express Transit.
Tim has always been interested in all kinds of transport. His work involves researching transport technology and ensuring that Nottingham's tram system runs efficiently. Tim's experience shows that it is possible to successfully take an unconventional route into engineering.
After taking some time out from education, Tim returned to college and completed a GNVQ in Mechanical Engineering. A degree in engineering followed and his employer is now sponsoring Tim on a Masters in Maintenance Engineering and Asset Management.
Tim says, “One of the best things about the job is seeing my work and ideas coming to fruition.”
