Silver Award: Future Travel
The British Science Association CREST Awards encourage students to take an investigative approach to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) related projects. These resources are just a few ideas that could be used to help students gain an award.
These materials look at three possible projects that relate to sustainable transport:
• Communications project - students gather information and produce a balanced view on the costs and benefits of using hydrogen as fuel for vehicles.
• Practical project - students investigate the factors that affect the performance of a hydrogen fuel cell and evaluate methods of generating hydrogen for use in fuel cells.
• Research project - research and advise about whether hydrogen-powered vehicles really are ‘greener’ than petrol and diesel ones.
HEALTH and SAFETY
Any use of a resource that includes a practical activity must include a risk assessment.
Please note that collections may contain ARCHIVE resources, which were developed at a much earlier date.
Since that time there have been significant changes in the rules and guidance affecting laboratory practical work.
Further information is provided in our Health and Safety guidance.
