A Vision of the Future
England (Yorkshire & the Humber)
13.10.2011
6.00pm - 8.00pm
In October the University of York, SCY and Stem Cells Vision will be screening a film for free, sponsored by the Wellcome Trust, on stem cell history and scientific evolution followed by a Q&A session. This film aims to explain stem cell technology in a straightforward manner without being condescending and will explore the realities behind the hopes and fears associated with stem cell research.
Margaret Atwood features in the film along with Nobel Laureate Sir Martin Evans and Sir Ian Wilmut, creator of Dolly the sheep. The Q&A will feature Dr Clare Blackburn from the Centre for Regenerative Medicine and Amy Hardie from the Scottish Documentary Institute, the film's Director/Producer, alongside some of our local experts including Professor Nicola Spence, CEO of SCY, David Hickman, Senior Lecturer at TFTV, and Dr James Walsh, Business Development Manager for the BioSciences.
Refreshments will be available after the screening.
Venue: Theatre, Film and Television, Baird Lane, Heslington East, York, YO10 5GE
