Bromley Mathematics Conference June 2012: Engaging Mathematics, Engaging Learners

England (London)

25.06.2012 - 27.06.2012

This conference is aimed at Teachers and Teaching Assistants from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 4, and offers a wide range of practical and engaging workshops led by key professionals in the field of mathematics.

Johnny Ball is best known for his TV work including ‘Think of a Number’, ‘Think Again’ and ‘Johnny Ball Reveals All’. His TV shows and videos have won 12 awards, including a BAFTA, a New York International Emmy nomination, and the ITVA ‘Presenter of the Year’ Craft Award.

Through the session, Johnny will show how his honed topics have the ability to engage learners. Engagement should be the aim in all teaching, and fun should be an ever present partner to learning.

He will show how we should enthuse children in mathematics without causing worries over ability, pace of learning or peer pressures. No mathematics concept was ever invented to make mathematics more difficult. On the contrary, it is meant to empower us and this feeling of empowerment needs to be conveyed to students in all areas of their learning. Irrespective of apparent ability at any stage in their educational career, any and perhaps, every child is capable of some form of genius.
