Nuclear marine engineering

Sponsored by Babcock and delivered in partnership with the Royal Navy, this course provides Year 9 students with an introduction to Nuclear Marine Engineering, including how a pressurised water reactor works, as well as the propulsion and electrical generation systems used on a sea going vessel.
Students will have the unique opportunity to stay in a military establishment for the duration of the course, and to take part in practical workshops alongside professional engineers.
The course will include practical workshops and lectures, museum visits, working alongside real engineers and finding out about engineering careers, as well as extra-curricular sporting activities and a formal dinner in the Wardroom at HMS Excellent.
