This seminar will be a timely opportunity to consider the makeup of the new Mathematics curriculum, due to be implemented in schools from September 2014. Bringing together key policymakers with other stakeholders, sessions will focus on the purpose of the curriculum, in terms of desired outputs for universities and employers, and skills for individuals for use in their daily lives - as well as best practice and relevant content required to deliver these aims.
Delegates will discuss wider issues in maths education, including ways of ensuring all pupils leave school with basic numeracy skills, whether Maths should be a compulsory subject up to age 18 and the provision of Further Mathematics in schools.
Guests of Honour: Professor Anne Watson, Deputy Chair, ACME and Professor of Mathematics Education, Oxford University and a senior representative, Department for Education
