Estyn is the office of Her Majesty's Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales. They are independent of, but funded by, the National Assembly for Wales. The purpose of Estyn is to inspect quality and standards in education and training in Wales. Estyn provides a nationwide perspective on education and training in Wales. Thematic inspections and reviews gather specialised evidence to help provide advice to the Welsh Assembly Government.
Each year, Estyn publishes around 15 thematic reports which look at specific areas of education and training and set out recommendations.
Ceri Jones, Her Majesty's Inspector of Education and Training in Wales will discuss how inspectors evaluate their use of skills, departmental marking, self assessment and peer assessment
