The Mathematical Needs of the workplace and higher education
England (North West)
06.01.2012
2.00pm - 3.00pm
The Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education (ACME) recently published its Mathematical Needs reports, a two-year long investigation into the mathematics needed by various end users, including higher education providers and employers. The project found that of those entering higher education in any year, some 333,000 would benefit from recent experience of studying some mathematics at a level beyond GCSE, but that fewer than 125,000 have done so.
Join ACME at this year's ASE exhibition in an interactive session to discuss how the findings and recommendations from these reports can impact on science education in schools and university.
Venue: Sir Alistair Pilkington building, Room 107.
