FAQ - eLibrary
- Do I need to register to access resources in the eLibrary?
-
The majority of resource collections in the eLibrary do not require you to log in to the site.
However, there are some collections that are available only to registered users of the eLibrary. This enables us to record how popular particular resources are, and provide more detailed feedback to resource providers. Also, you will not be able to download video from the eLibrary unless you are logged in.
There are other benefits to registering and logging in with the eLibrary. For example, on your ‘dashboard’ page you will receive bespoke suggestions of resources that you may find interesting, for example, when new materials are added to the eLibrary. Registered users are also able to share their expertise by rating and/or commenting on resources, which helps us to improve the eLibrary service.
Registering with the website is straightforward. Once you have registered simply select ‘Sign in’ from the very top of the webpage and enter your email address and password.
- How can I keep up to date with resources in the eLibrary?
-
Once you have registered with the eLibrary you may receive periodical Newsletters to keep you up to date with new resources in the eLibrary. These updates will be tailored to your particular areas of interest.
If you would like to receive more immediate updates when new resources are added to the eLibrary then you may subscribe to a Webfeed. For more information on Webfeeds please visit our ‘Help’ pages.
- How does the eLibrary search work?
-
The eLibrary search is designed to be simple to use, and offer a good range of results. Suggestions for getting the most out of the eLibrary search are in our ‘Help’ pages.
- I am a teacher and would like to share my STEM resources with others. May I submit these to the eLibrary?
-
We are currently working on the next phase of development, which will enable members of the National STEM Centre community to share their own resources.
- I have not received an email acknowledging my registration. What should I do?
-
Shortly after you register with the website an automated email message will be sent to you asking you to confirm your registration. If you do not receive this email message it may be caught in your computer's 'junk mail' or 'spam' folder. If you still can't see the message, please contact us for assistance.
- I'd like to submit a resource review to the eLibrary...
-
Any registered user of the eLibrary may rate and comment on a resource. We are also working with a group of Teacher Associates who are writing longer reviews of resources they have used in their classroom. If you are interested in working with us on developing the eLibrary we would love to hear from you. Please contact us with ‘Teacher Associate’ included in the subject line.
- I'm having problems opening certain files in the eLibrary...
-
Problems with viewing certain media files may be due to the particular browser versions. If you are using Internet Explorer you may wish to try using a different browser instead, such as Firefox: www.mozilla.org/firefox. If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP and you are unable to view particular resources, please contact us describing your problem, your feedback is very useful in helping us to improve the eLibrary service.
- My organisation would like to submit resources to the eLibrary...
-
The National STEM Centre is committed to helping resource providers disseminate their STEM resource materials to teachers and lecturers. Please contact us if you would like to discuss building a collection in the eLibrary.
