Bioethics short film competition for students

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics has launched a new competition for students: 'Box Office Bioethics'. The competition is open to individuals or groups of students in the UK and Ireland in the following three age categories:

  • Year 11 and under
  • Years 12 & 13
  • Undergraduates

The competition challenges students to produce a short film (between 3 - 5 minutes long) that explores contemporary bioethics issues in medicine and biology in engaging and creative ways. The organisers welcome films about any bioethics topic, provided that it falls within the biological and medical sciences and that the ethical dimensions of the issue are clearly presented and explored in the film.

There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs including £200 in gift vouchers for the winning entrant(s) with the winning film being publicly screened at the Council's annual public lecture in spring 2012 in London. There are also runner-up prizes available too.

The closing date for entries is 24 February 2012.

Find out full details about the competition, including a list of suggested topics to explore, on the Nuffield Council on Bioethics website.
