British Science Festival hits Birmingham

The British Science Festival is one of Europe's largest science festivals, taking place each September and bringing us the latest in science, technology and engineering.

This year the Festival is visiting Birmingham from 14-19 September, with hundreds of events taking place on Aston University campus and at various venues across Birmingham.

The National STEM Centre eLibrary can provide follow up resources for teachers and lecturers, to help you bring the Festival into your school or college.

For example, looking forward to Tuesday...

Planets outside the Solar System - Tuesday 1.00pm

Several hundred new planets have been discovered in solar systems other than our own throughout the galaxy in the last twenty years, and our ability to detect them is improving all the time. The likelihood is that around one in three stars in the universe will have rocky planets, some of which will be Earth-like in size and orbit. Come and explore the research into extrasolar planets.
